SEUSSICAL JR – PERFORMING AUGUST

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage in Seussical JR., a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty.
Transporting audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, the Cat in the Hat narrates the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
- AUDITIONS FOR AGES 8-18: Choose Saturday, April 27th from 8-10am, OR Saturday, May 4 from 9-11am
- AUDITIONS FOR AGES 4-7 (*no callbacks required) Wednesday, May 8 from 4:30-6pm (*See info below regarding options for this age group)
- CALLBACKS: Friday, May 10 from 4-6:30pm and Saturday, May 11 from 9-11:30am
- CAST MEETING: Friday, May 17 from 5:15-6:15pm
- FIRST REHEARSAL: Wednesday, May 22
- PERFORMANCES AT THE MESA ARTS CENTER: August 12-20, 2024

- Scheduling Note: Not everyone will be called for all rehearsals. Younger ensemble performers will be released earlier on weeknights. We can schedule around students who cannot make it at 4pm due to school, etc.
- The participation fee for this show is $300 and includes a cast shirt and cast photo. Scholarships are available.
For this show, please prepare 30 seconds of a musical theatre song that best showcases your voice and be prepared to read lines from the script.

COMING SOON
Limelight has made some changes to our summer lineup. We are not able to pursue the licensing for our favorite summer disco musical, as a national tour is coming this year. Instead, we have another really fun show in the works, which will open late August/early September 2024.
